he looks so good when he’s chopping lemons… i didn’t say a name but he popped into your head, didn’t he?
hey yo give me your best pitch for Piranesi, I just saw it at my local bookstore and was considering getting it but backed out at the last minute bc I don't actually know what it's about 😅
OH GIRL OK
A man awakes inside an infinite house. It is full of marble statues, endless passages, birds, and rushing tides that pour and run throughout The House. Despite the terror others would feel at being stuck in such an awful predicament, Piranesi sees wonder in The House, much to the bewilderment of the only other person inside The House (minus a few dozen skeletons), The Other. For years Piranesi and The Other live inside The House, Piranesi carefully recording his life there (full of albatrosses, giant satyr statues rising out of the depths, barnacles, and weaving shells into his hair), when he makes the discovery that his world might not be as it seems.
It’s one of my favorite books. I like to call it the anti-horror book, not that it is anti horror, but that it is horror from the perspective of someone who sees so much beauty and love in his life that a horrifying world is made lovely. I’ve never read anything like it. Not only that, the book reminds me of liminal spaces, endless pools, and rooms filled with stars. It’s a magical book and it really won’t leave your head
Dude your blind man hearing is out of control-
Like HOW DID HE THINK SAYING THIS WOULD MAKE THINGS BETTER
